Nars Bento Box Limited Edition Lipstick Set

October 7, 2010 by: admin

Any Nars fans out there?

Yes? Then check this out!

The New Nars limited-edition Bento Box lipstick set is inspired by a pot of lip stain used for kabuki actors that Nars found in Japan over 10 years ago.

The set comes with two cups of hand-poured color in a wooden box with a wisteria-handled lip brush.

“I’ve always been fascinated with the concept of kabuki makeup,” Nars says. “It’s about symbolism and using color to create drama.” The lipstick application is as seductive as its presentation. “You dip the brush into the cup, around the perimeter, to pick up product, and simply paint,” he says. “It’s a beautiful process.” Unless you want to look like a Japanese theater character, however, Nars recommends using a little restraint: “It’s highly pigmented, so I suggest starting out light and building for desired intensity. It seems intimidating, but the texture is creamy and light and will move easily.”

This set will retail for $125.00 and will be available starting November 1st.

You can preorder the set now here!

What do you think of the bento box lipsticks? Will you be picking them up?

The idea seems awesome to me, but for the price I think I’ll pass.

New:NARS ‘Pure Sheer’ Lip Treatment SPF 15

April 20, 2010 by: admin

Impervious to summer sun, NARS Pure Sheer Lip Treatment hydrates, nourishes, repairs and pampers…effortlessly. Buffered with SPF 15 and moisturizing mango butter, it soothes and softens, protecting lips throughout the day. Six subtle yet sublime tinted shades—think mauve, cantaloupe, strawberry, pearl and pinks—caress your lips. Lush and lingering, they’re equally comfortable on their own or underneath your signature NARS lip color. Sexy and safe lips—who said you can’t have it both ways?

Has anyone tried the Pure Sheer Lip Treatments yet? They would be great for Summer since they contain an SPF of 15. I really want to get the shade Angelique, it looks so pretty. What are your thoughts?

These retail for :$25.00 each.

New for Spring: Nars’ Limited-Edition Multiple Tint Tubes

April 12, 2010 by: admin

Any Nars Multiple fans out there? I’m actually not that crazy about them, but if you are then you’ll probably love these.

The new Nars limited-edition Multiple Tint tubes come in ultrabright red (Beverly Hills), orange (Turks & Caicos), and fuchsia (Cadaqués).

Although, these multiples look very vibrant they supposedly apply very sheer which makes them more wearable.

Available: May 1 for $38 at narscosmetics.com.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser Review

February 5, 2010 by: admin

Hi Girls. Happy Friday! I hope you all have something fun planned for the weekend. I have plans to go birthday shopping ( I’m turning the big 31 soon….eek) with my sister which should be a lot of fun. We plan on hitting up Lush, Sephora, Mac and the CCO for sure so look for a haul post in the next week or two.

Anyway, about the Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser. Do you remember back in September when I mentioned The Skin Type Solution book and how everyone should pick it up? If not you can find the post here.

Well, the book recommends Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser for someone with my oily, acne prone skin type. And since I recently ran out of my much loved Philosophy Purity Made Simple, I decided to give the Aveeno product a try.

What do I think of it? Keep reading….

What they say:

Aveeno Positively Radiant Cleanser

* Brings out skin’s natural radiance
* Helps even out skin tone and texture
* Lifts away dirt, oil and makeup without over-drying for naturally radiant skin
* Oil free, hypoallergenic, soap free, noncomedogenic

Our thoughts:

If you’re a long time reader of this site then you know I love used to love Nars Sheer Glow foundation. Well, my love affair with sheer glow is over. It was causing me to have terrible breakouts so I stopped using it and went back to Bare Minerals. I quit breaking out soon after, but my skin was left with those dreaded red spots that won’t go away for nothing. So after rereading the Skin Type Solution I picked up the Aveeno cleanser and I love it! This product took away the red spots and left me with healthy, glowing skin. I love this product and can’t wait to try out some of the other Positively Radiant products in the future. I give this cleanser two thumbs up. And you can’t beat the price….I think I paid around $6.00 for this at Target. Can’t beat that now can you?

Have you tried any of the Aveeno Positively Radiant products? What were your thoughts?

Revlon Photo Ready Foundation Review

January 19, 2010 by: admin

I was so excited to try this foundation. I’ve heard amazing things about it and I even heard it was a dupe for my HG foundation Nars Sheer Glow. So when I heard that I ran to Target and picked it up.

I’ve been using the product now for about two weeks and I have to say I’m very disappointed. This product is nothing like Sheer Glow in my opinion. It’s thick and goes on very streaky. I looked in the mirror outside after applying this foundation and I looked like a mess. There were streaks everywhere, it settled into all my pores and it just looked plain cakey. This product also dries extremely fast so you have to make sure to blend quickly.

I’m very sad that this foundation didn’t work for me. Revlon is one of my favorite drugstore brands and this could have saved me lots of money if it had worked. Oh well….maybe it will work for someone else.

Pros:
Price ($9.99 at Target)
It has a pump!!
Gorgeous glowy finish

Cons:
Streaks
Not a wide variety of shades
Emphasizes imperfections and pores
Heavy feeling

Have you tried this product yet? Please let me know your thoughts.

Guest Post: 10 Must Have Blushes

January 18, 2010 by: admin

We have another guest post for you today. Enjoy.

Hello, my name is Heather, I’m 27, and I’m a freelance makeup artist. These are the blushes/bronzers I find myself using the most on clients and myself. I’m a Mac NC15 for reference.

Let me know what your favorite blushes are, I have TONS of blushes these are just a few of my favorites. Maybe you’ll know of some that I don’t so please share!

Top 10 favorite blushes/bronzers

1. Nars- Orgasm

Don’t tell me you didn’t see that one coming. It is a beautiful pink/coral with
a hint of gold shimmer. It looks great on every skintone in my opinion. You’ll
find yourself hitting pan with this one for sure.

2. Nars- Albatross

This is more of the highlight blush than a colorful blush. Its truly the perfect
finish to any look.

3. Benefit- Coralista

A beautiful shimmery pink blush. The packaging is super cute and its one I always find myself reaching for. I also love the smell of Benefit blushes, is that weird?

4.Too Faced-Pink Leopard

This blush is a mixture of pinks and tan, take a big fluffy brush swirl it in the blush and just buff all over for a nice healthy glow.

5.E.L.F.- Blushed and Bronzed Contour Powder

This blush is only $3.00 off of the ELF website, or you could use a code and get it even cheaper. It is worth much more than three dollars plus you get both the pink/coral blush and a great bronzer with a nice shiny palette and a huge mirror.

6.E.L.F.-Candid Coral Blush

Watch out Orgasm you may have met your match. This blush is a pinkish coral shade with gold shimmers. It’s gorgeous, has great color payoff, and for $3.00 you can’t beat it.

7.Hard Candy-Living Doll

This is a baked blush with swirls of pinks and gold (I see a trend forming here). This is 6.00 at your local Wal Mart and the color payoff is amazing.

8.MAC-Dollymix

This is one of my favorite blushes because its such a vibrant pink. The color is so pretty and cheerful and it looks amazing on almost all skin types.

9.MAC-Florida

This is what I would refer to as the cremeblend version of Dollymix. It’s such a vibrant pink and its staying power is unbelievable. I have only had this since the Lily Pulitzer Collection came out and I find myself going for it more often than not.

10.MAC- Pink Swoon

This blush is a beautiful soft baby pink. It gives you that fresh faced look without glitter or shimmer. Kim Kardashian says: “This is the perfect pink, I carry blush in my purse at all times” well said KK.
