Uma Thurman’s Favorite Skincare Products

February 23, 2010 by: admin

Uma Thurman recently shared her favorite skincare products and beauty advice with InStyle magazine.

Her best beauty advice is something I believe in as well, healthy eating. She said a healthy diet is key. Even on days she eats macaroni and cheese she’ll have a side of dark green veggies.

She’s also an obsessive bather. She likes to take really hot baths with lots of epsom salt.

Here are Uma’s favorite skincare items….

Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Milk $37.00.

“It’s gentle but still makes my skin feel really clean.”

Skinceuticals Phloretin Cf Serum $150.00

“Antioxidants are important for the health of your skin.”

Epsom Salts $4.00 at drugstores

“I pour lots of salt into my bath. It’s like the Dead Sea in there.”

If you’re interested in learning more about her favorite beauty products then look no further, she recently shared them with Glamour magazine.

Her obsessions include:

1. Dior J’Adore Eau De Toilette

“There’s something adventurous about J’Adore – it reminds me of traveling.”

2. Cetaphil and Chapstick.

“I really like Cetaphil – it’s a good face wash. And cherry ChapStick!

3. Kiel’s Tea Tree Oil Shampoo.

“I love it because I color my hair and my scalp gets dry. It really moisturizes.”

4. Anything by Stella McCartney.

“It’s all animal friendly. I always have a bit of Stella with me.”

David Babaii for WildAid Amplifying Shampoo Review

January 12, 2010 by: admin

I received a David Babaii gift set for Christmas which contained the amplifying shampoo, conditioner, bottle of beach spray and a nice little tote bag. It was my first time using these products so I was very excited to test them out and report back to you guys.

After using the products for the past two weeks I feel like it’s time for a review.

About David Babaii for WildAid:

Celebrate natures beauty while enhancing your own. This innovative line of eco-conscious styling products blends exotic natural ingredients that make it easy to create a hairstyle thats natural, unique and free-flowing. And, with 10 percent of profits being donated to WildAid, an international non-profit organization engaged in endangered wildlife protection, its never been easier to look good while doing your part.

About the shampoo:

Amplifying Shampoo carefully and thoroughly cleanses, while providing natural lift and luster to tired, fine, limp hair. Mineral-rich Volcanic Ash from the Vanuatu Islands of the South Pacific brings abundant volume to hair. Fragrant White Ginger enhances shine, while natural Coconut Oil derivatives create ultra-rich lather. This unique eco-friendly formula is perfect for all hair types. It protects the hair’s integrity and encourages manageability. Color-treated hair will keep color longer.

Our thoughts:

This product left my hair looking like I’d just had a salon blowout. My hair had loads of volume(which is hard to get for someone with thick hair like myself) and was extremely shiny. If sexy, big, shiny hair is what you’re after you should give this product a try.

The only negative about this product that I could find was the smell. It’s weird because once my hair is dry I like the smell, but in the shower it smells strongly of baby powder. I can tolerate the smell, but if you’re sensitive to those types of things you may not like this product very much.

So to recap:

What I liked about the Shampoo:

  • Lots of Volume
  • Shine
  • Price is reasonable
  • Works Great
  • 10% of Proceeds go to help wildlife
  •

What I didn’t like about the Shampoo:

  • Smells strongly of powder
  •

Retails for: $9.99 each at Ulta, Amazon, Etc

The conditioner is great as well and I also highly recommend it.

Singer, Jessica Harp, can’t live without her favorite beauty products. They are:

    1. Nars Eyeshadows.

“I love Nars eyeshadows because they don’t seem to crumble as much as a lot of others, and they have amazing colors to choose from.”

    2. Nars Makeup.

“When I play live, I’m running around having fun on stage, and Nars makeup-like their blush-tends to hold up.”

    3. DiorShow Mascara

“I’m lucky to have really long, thick eyelashes, and Dior’s DiorShow Mascara makes my lashes thick and dramatic without having to use fake lashes.”

    Dr. Alkaitis Skincare Review

    November 9, 2009 by: admin

Dr. Alkaitis is a highly-regarded research scientist with a Ph.D. in physical chemistry from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering from the University of New Mexico. He has conducted plant research with Nobel prize winner Professor Melvin Calvin, UC Berkeley; invented radiocarbon dating with Dr. F. Willard Libby, UCLA and contributed to viral cancer research with Professor Howard M. Temin at the University of Wisconsin at Madison.

Dr. Alkaitis’ in-depth plant studies exceed levels that few people have achieved as a chemist, a molecular biologist, an ethnopharmacologist (traditional healing forms using plants), and pharmacognosist (medicinal properties of plants). With his scientific knowledge and expertise in plant life, he has the unique advantage to fuse science into a holistic approach, hence creating one of the most dynamic personal-care lines available on the market today.

Gisele Bundchen, Karolina Kurkova and Alicia Minshew are huge fans of the Dr. Alkaitis skincare line.

Gisele calls the Dr.Alkaitis Eye Cream one of her must haves. She told InStyle magazine:

“I love organic products. This cream is so natural, you can eat it.”

Actress Alicia Minshew (Kendall, All My Children) has said:

“I love Dr. Alkaitis Products and the fact that they are all organic. I am very picky about what I put on my skin especially since I am on camera everyday and wear tons of camera makeup. When I use Dr. Alkaitis’ products I actually feel like I am feeding my skin healthy stuff. I swear by the night creme! My skin literally has a glow from using it and it is softer than it has ever been!!”

I was recently sent a sample kit from Dr. Alkaitis to review and I have to say I was very impressed with everything I tried. I do have to agree with Alicia and Giselle though and say the eye and night cremes were my favorite. The cremes absorb quickly and don’t leave you feeling greasy at all.

My skin feels and looks wonderful since starting the products and I have a glow I can only attribute to Dr. Alkaitis. Thanks, Dr. Alkaitis!

If you want to try a wonderful brand with a huge celebrity following check out the Dr. Alkaitis line today.

Dosha Care Ayurvedic Skin Care Review

    October 6, 2009 by: admin

Dosha Care is a line of customizable skincare based on your Dosha. I was recently sent the Discovery Kit for my Dosha( which happens to be Pitta) to review and I have to say I’m loving it.

I’ve been using the Dosha Care system for a little over two weeks now and I’m pleasantly surprised with it. My skin appears to be much more “calm” and I haven’t been experiencing as many breakouts as usual. Also the moisturizer leaves my skin feeling smooth, not oily like a lot of other moisturizers I’ve used in the past.

    Each Discovery Kit contains…

    1 Vata, Pitta or Kapha 1 Cleanser – 10ml
    1 Vata, Pitta or Kapha 1 Masque – 10ml
    1 Vata, Pitta or Kapha 1 Elixir – 10ml
1 Vata, Pitta or Kapha Moisturizer – 10ml
    1 Sakala Ama Release Tonic – 4ml
    1 Sakala Environmental Shield – 4 ml
    1 Sakala Exfoliant – 10ml
    1 Sakala Eye & Neck Balm – 3 gr
    1 Sakala Sunscreen SPF 28 – 10ml

    Price: US $44.00

Don’t want to pick up the whole system? Then I recommend you try the Masque, Exfoliant, and Moisturizer. They were my favorite products from the line.

Not sure what your Dosha is? Take the quiz on their site to find out.
