ELF Beauty Book Eye Brights Edition Review

July 20, 2010 by: admin

You probably remember the ELF Smokey Eye book I reviewed recently. Well, I picked up the other beauty book as well and this one is called Eye Brights.

This set is a good value at $5.00, but it’s not as great as the Smokey Eye Beauty Book. This one contains three pretty chalky shadows which was disappointing.

You can see here that I marked the ones which were chalky. So only 3/12 which isn’t terrible, but I just wanted to let you know the Smokey Eye kit is much better in my opinion. I do love the blue, cranberry and purple shadows though they’re gorgeous and very pigmented.

Have you found these products in your Target yet? What were your thoughts?

ELF Products at Target Update

July 19, 2010 by: admin

I’ve been getting a lot of comments and emails about the ELF products I mentioned in earlier posts. Everything from when will your Target start carrying the products to where are they located. I’m sorry I can’t really help you with the first question, but the products in my Target are on an end cap. I went back this weekend to take some pictures for you of the set up so you will know what to look for.

As you can tell from the first photo some of the products are still being put out. If your Target doesn’t have the items out yet I’m sure they will soon.

I hope this helps some of you find the products!

ELF Cosmetics Natural Shadow & Brush Set Review

July 14, 2010 by: admin

Yesterday, I showed you the ELF Smokey Eye Book, now today I bring up the ELF Natural Shadow set.

This kit contains six natural shadows and a mini eye shadow brush.

These shadows aren’t chalky and they have pretty good staying power. Great quality for the price, $3.00!!

This is a great kit for those just starting out with makeup, girls on a budget, or just anyone who wants a drugstore natural shadow set. Another win for ELF.

Available at Target for $3.00.

ELF Beauty Book Smokey Eye Edition Review

July 13, 2010 by: admin

I’ve been a fan of ELF for a few years now so I was beyond excited when I walked into Target over the weekend and saw all the new ELF goodies gracing the shelves.

One of the products I picked up was the ELF Beauty Book Smokey Eye Edition. It includes a step by step guide to the perfect eye makeup, 12 eyeshadows, 1 eyeliner and 1 eyeshadow applicator. And while this same kit from any other brand would be 30+ dollars the ELF Beauty Book is only $5.00!!!! How can you beat that?

I tested it out this weekend and the colors are great, not chalky at all. Totally worth the $5.00 price tag.

Have you tried this or other ELF products? What was your favorite thing? Please share!

I’m back and Favorite Highlighters for Summer 2010

June 10, 2010 by: admin

I’m back!! Did you miss me? I hope so, because I missed you guys so much! I can’t believe it’s been so long since my last post…. I’m so sorry. I’ve been dealing with a lot of computer/internet problems lately….grrr. And on top of that sinus/allergy issues have been kicking my butt.

Today is a new day though and it seems the internet/computer issues have been fixed (crosses fingers) and I’m feeling much better so hopefully I’m here to stay!

So on that note….Today I wanted to discuss highlighters. I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with them at the moment. I have over 20 of them, but I always seem to reach for the same 4 products. Find out which ones they are below.

Eyeko Beauty Cream, Benefit High Beam, Elf Lilac Petal and Mac Silver Dusk.

Photobucket
(Pictured in order are: Eyeko Beauty Cream, Benefit High Beam, Elf Lilac Petal and Mac Silver Dusk).

All of these products are very similar as you can see from the swatches. In fact Elf Lilac Petal and Benefit High Beam are so close I’d consider Lilac Petal a dupe for High Beam. The biggest difference between the two? The price: Benefit High Beam is $24.00 while the Elf Shimmering Facial Whip in Lilac Petal is only $1.00 at Target!!

What are your favorite highlighters? I’d love to hear from you so please share.

Note: I received a press sample of the Eyeko Beauty Cream for review and the MAC Silver Dusk is a sample I got from my sister.

ELF Studio Golden Bronzer Swatches and Review

May 14, 2010 by: admin

The ELF Studio Golden Bronzer is one of my favorite ELF products at the moment. While I don’t find it much of a “bronzer” it makes the most gorgeous highlighter ever. I’ve been reaching for this product daily since I picked it up.

It’s so pretty!! Don’t you love it?

The Pros….
What I like about it:

* I love the black “Nars” like packaging
* The huge mirror
* Gorgeous color
* Only $3.00 which is a steal!
* Easy to use
* Great pigmentation
* Works great as a highligher

The Cons….
What I don’t like about it:

* Not great for use as a “bronzer”

Overall, I think this product is worth picking up if you’re looking for a great highlighter for ligher skintones. Just don’t expect to use it as a actual bronzer.

ELF products can be purchased at Target or online.

Have you tried this product before? What were your thoughts?

ELF Tickled Pink Studio Blush Swatches and Review

by: admin

Happy Friday!! Anyone have any fun plans for the weekend? My In Laws are coming into town this weekend, so I’m sure I’ll end up doing some shopping/dining out.

I have recently purchased a lot of Elf Studio Line products so expect to see several ELF reviews coming up soon. Today I’m going to start with the blush in Tickled Pink. Tickled pink is a very pretty pink blush that reminds me a lot of Benefit Dandelion. It’s a great shade for those of us with paler skin. I’m a MAC NC20-25 for reference.

The Pros….
What I like about it:

* I love the black “Nars” like packaging
* The huge mirror
* Great color
* Only $3.00 which is a steal!
* Easy to use

The Cons….
What I don’t like about it:

* Sorta chalky
* Doesn’t have the longest staying power

Overall, I think this blush is worth picking up if you’re looking for a cheap drugstore blush. Definitely, worth the $3.00 price tag in my book.

Have you tried any of the ELF Studio Blushes? What were your thoughts?

Guest Post: 10 Must Have Blushes

January 18, 2010 by: admin

We have another guest post for you today. Enjoy.

Hello, my name is Heather, I’m 27, and I’m a freelance makeup artist. These are the blushes/bronzers I find myself using the most on clients and myself. I’m a Mac NC15 for reference.

Let me know what your favorite blushes are, I have TONS of blushes these are just a few of my favorites. Maybe you’ll know of some that I don’t so please share!

Top 10 favorite blushes/bronzers

1. Nars- Orgasm

Don’t tell me you didn’t see that one coming. It is a beautiful pink/coral with
a hint of gold shimmer. It looks great on every skintone in my opinion. You’ll
find yourself hitting pan with this one for sure.

2. Nars- Albatross

This is more of the highlight blush than a colorful blush. Its truly the perfect
finish to any look.

3. Benefit- Coralista

A beautiful shimmery pink blush. The packaging is super cute and its one I always find myself reaching for. I also love the smell of Benefit blushes, is that weird?

4.Too Faced-Pink Leopard

This blush is a mixture of pinks and tan, take a big fluffy brush swirl it in the blush and just buff all over for a nice healthy glow.

5.E.L.F.- Blushed and Bronzed Contour Powder

This blush is only $3.00 off of the ELF website, or you could use a code and get it even cheaper. It is worth much more than three dollars plus you get both the pink/coral blush and a great bronzer with a nice shiny palette and a huge mirror.

6.E.L.F.-Candid Coral Blush

Watch out Orgasm you may have met your match. This blush is a pinkish coral shade with gold shimmers. It’s gorgeous, has great color payoff, and for $3.00 you can’t beat it.

7.Hard Candy-Living Doll

This is a baked blush with swirls of pinks and gold (I see a trend forming here). This is 6.00 at your local Wal Mart and the color payoff is amazing.

8.MAC-Dollymix

This is one of my favorite blushes because its such a vibrant pink. The color is so pretty and cheerful and it looks amazing on almost all skin types.

9.MAC-Florida

This is what I would refer to as the cremeblend version of Dollymix. It’s such a vibrant pink and its staying power is unbelievable. I have only had this since the Lily Pulitzer Collection came out and I find myself going for it more often than not.

10.MAC- Pink Swoon

This blush is a beautiful soft baby pink. It gives you that fresh faced look without glitter or shimmer. Kim Kardashian says: “This is the perfect pink, I carry blush in my purse at all times” well said KK.

Ross Deals: Jason Natural Products, ELF, and more.

December 10, 2009 by: admin

I was out doing some Christmas shopping tonight and decided to stop into Ross. Do you have those where you live? If so check them out because right now they have some amazing deals going on.

I picked up the Jason Natural Products Orange Cranberry Satin Gift Set for only $4.99. It’s on Amazon right now for $17.99!! This set would make a wonderful gift for someone, though I must admit I’m keeping this one for myself. It comes with a body wash, hand soap and lotion. I love Jason products and this scent is wonderful. I’m very excited about this deal.

I also picked up this ELF Smokey Eye kit for $3.99. This kit contains: Drama Eye Shadow, Black Earth & Water Mascara, Eye Liner in Black, Smudge Brush, and Eye Lash Curler. The eyelash curler is my favorite drugstore curler it works great! This kit would make a nice little gift for someone or you could use it as a stocking stuffer.

They also had several other Jason and Elf sets, Playboy brand makeup, lots of name brand haircare gift sets and stuff from lots of other brands. I was in a hurry so I just grabbed these two things and left, but it’s definitely worth checking out if you live near a Ross store.

Have you found any great deals at Ross, Marshalls, TJ Max or similar stores lately? Please share.
