June 2011 Beauty Favorites

June 27, 2011 by: admin

Are you someone who has a million beauty products, but always uses the same few over and over and over?

If so you’re just like me.

It seems like I’ve used nothing, but these few products over and over again lately.

2011 Summer/June Beauty Favorites

1. Prtty Peaushun Body Lotion. This stuff is amazing!
2. Xen Tan Daily Self Tan. Best self tanner I’ve ever used!
3. Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray. Use this and your makeup won’t budge all day!
4. Origins Vitazing Moisturizer. The only “foundation” I’ve been wearing lately.
5. Pro Face No Sweat Perspiration Retardant. Use this under your foundation for those days you’ll be in the sun a lot, but still want to look fresh.
6. Organix Moroccan Argan Oil. This product prevents UV damage to your hair and leaves it soft and smooth.
7. Lorac Double Feature Concealer and Highlighter. Decent product, not sure if I’d repurchase yet though.
8. Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain in Frenzy. I normally don’t like lipstains, but this is great for a day at the beach or at the pool because it stays put.
9. Urban Decay Naked Palette. Love this palette!
10. Mehron Setting Powder. This antiperspirant product is great for keeping the summer greasy look away.
11. Victoria’s Secret Radiant Face Trio in White Hot. Love this highligher. It’s just gorgeous.
12. Not pictured, but a favorite none the less is Benefits Creaseless Shadow in RSVP. Wear this under Urban Decays Sin as a primer and my shadow lasts all day.

And a swatch. Isn’t it gorgeous?

Beauty and Style Rules I learned from Kim Kardashian

June 10, 2011 by: admin

I don’t know about you, but I adore Kim Kardashian.

She always seems so glamorous and put together.

Here are a few beauty and style rules she always seems to follow.

A Denim Jacket never goes out of style and it can be worn over a maxi dress for a super cute look this summer.

A smokey eye/nude lip combo is the perfect go to makeup for a night on the town.

Oversized sunglasses

Ripped Jeans
Photobucket

“I’m loving the ripped jeans look! Also, I’ve been embracing “recession-ista” style which is why I co-founded ShoeDazzle.com. Women need to be able to stay trendy and fashion-forward without having to spend a fortune.”

Oversized Bags

Be proud of your curves!

“I love curves. Being super skinny just isn’t attractive to me.”

Don’t be afraid to try new looks from time to time.

“You make mistakes, but I don’t have any regrets. I’m the kind of person who takes responsibility for it and deals with it. I learn from everything I do. “

And last, but not least remember it’s ok to forget all the rules and just go bare sometimes.

Whitney Port’s New Apricot Do

Recently, Whitney Port, posted this on her site.

Hi tootsies,
My colorist Johnny Ramirez and I have been having a lot of fun with my hair lately experimenting with different shades of red. A few months ago, we went with a bright red which then gradually washed out to a strawberry blonde, and now I’ve gone sun kissed apricot! Do you guys like it??

xoxo,
Whit

What do you think of her new apricot do?

To be honest I’m not a fan.

Pixie Haircut and Inspiration in unique places, haha.

June 7, 2011 by: admin

I’m proof that beauty addicts can find inspiration anywhere. It doesn’t have to be from a magazine,tv, etc. Recently I was at Disney and spotted a girl with the most adorable pixieish cut ever and I thought I want that hair.

So what did I do? I went up to her and said something like, “OMG!!!! I LOVE YOUR HAIR!! SQUEAL! Can I take a picture of it so I can get mine done the same way?”

The darling girl said, “SURE!”. And I did and I’m now the proud owner of a similar cut.

The celeb, Sarah Harding, in the image above has the closet cut I could find online.

It was such a huge change for me, but I’m loving it and so far so is everyone else.

Thanks for the inspiration “Disney Girl” and I hope I didn’t scare you too bad, haha.

What’s the weirdest place you’ve ever found inspiration?

Get Emma Robert’s cascading waves for the 2011 MET Ball

Emma Robert's cascading waves for the 2011 MET Ball

The stars hit the red carpet in style last night at the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala. This year titled ‘Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty,’ the Met Ball honored the late and inspirational designer and Hollywood’s hottest donned their most daring to wow and shine.

Sebastian Stylist Thomas Dunkin tended to the locks of Scream 4 actress Emma Roberts before the ball. Of the look Thomas says, “Her dress was incredibly beautiful and we wanted to achieve a super elegant, polished look from top to bottom.” Here, Thomas shares tips for channeling Emma’s Old Hollywood style.

1. Begin by slightly dampening the hair. Apply Sebastian Professional Potion 9 Lite throughout the bottom two-thirds of the hair to create texture and coat the roots with Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray for volume.
2. Next blow out the hair in big sections, placing each into pin curls when dry. This will help smooth the hair so you can get a polished, perfectly groomed effect for an elegant look.
3. Take a large curling iron through the hair, section by section, placing the pieces back in a pin curl.
4. Once the hair cools, brush it through to create waves using a Mason Pearson hairbrush. Gently pull the ends of the hair down to loosen the wave slightly for softness.
5. Finish by applying Sebastian Professional Shaper Fierce hairspray for hold that will last the evening.

SEBASTIAN PROFESSIONAL INTRODUCES NEW COLOR IGNITE CARE COLLECTION AND ANNOUNCES LATEST VISIONARY, THE SOUNDS’ FRONT WOMAN, MAJA IVARSSON

March 9, 2011 by: admin

As part of its constant effort to offer versatile products that maximize stylists’ creativity and fearless self expression, Sebastian Professional has once again put its ear to stylists’ stomping grounds to discover how to better enable their talents and, in turn, amaze their clients. In March 2011, Sebastian Professional will proudly inject new potential into its line-up with the launch of Color Ignite, an all-new color care offering. This unique line of professional color care products offers two custom-tailored formulas designed according to the color techniques used – SINGLE TONE for single tone colored hair and MULTI TONE for multi-tonal and lightened hair.

“More than 80 percent of our clients across the globe color their hair,” says Reuben Carranza, CEO, P&G Salon Professional North America. “We recognize the role color care plays in preserving salon color and shine results. With Color Ignite, we’re delivering a product offering that recognizes the hair damage consequence and concern while still applauding the truest representation of hair color artistry.”
SPECIALIZED TECHNOLOGY BROUGHT TO SEBASTIAN HAIR CARE

The coloring process, by way of course, alters the chemical structure of the hair shaft, stripping it of its protective “f-layer,” which is responsible for holding onto conditioning ingredients. With the f-layer compromised, the hair shaft becomes very “thirsty” and will absorb water quickly and more easily. Since water alone is responsible for 80% of color loss, it’s important to care for color-treated hair with a shampoo and conditioner that contain the appropriate ingredients working in concert to allow conditioning properties to adhere to hair.

To address this, Sebastian Professional formulated its new Color Ignite regimen with “Smart Color Complex,” which contains Smart Polymers in the shampoo that allows conditioning agents to adhere to the color-treated hair. Smart Color Complex intelligently recognizes, responds and reacts to the varying conditions of single tone or multi-tonal and lightened hair for individualized results.

Through two unique shampoo and conditioner offerings, Sebastian helps address the need to protect and preserve results so hair rocks exceptional shine and color vibrancy.

* In SINGLE TONE Shampoo and Conditioner, for single tone colored hair, the “Smart Color Seal Complex” helps seal the cuticle and smoothes the hair surface.
* In MULTI TONE Shampoo and Conditioner, for multi-tonal and lightened hair, the “Smart Color Moisture Complex” targets damage or gaps on the hair strands and helps restructure them to unleash color vibrancy on both the colored and highlighted strands.

NEW Whipped Form: Color Ignite conditioners come in a new light, whipped form and provide effective spreadability and even application across all hair fibers. The whipped form has thousands of micro bubbles that create a super thin veil of color protection polymers that reach and wrap each hair fiber, adding shine to your outstanding color.

Beginning March 2011, Sebastian Professional’s new Color Ignite collection will be available at 10,000 salons nationwide for a suggested retail price of $14.95 (Shampoo) and $16.95 (Conditioner). For more information, please visit: www.sebastianprofessional.com

THE SOUNDS OF INSPIRATION – MAJA IVARSSON

As a part of its constant mission to source bright, bold new visionary muses for inspiration to its stylists and consumers, Sebastian took to the music industry to discover its most captivating star yet to represent Color Ignite. Chosen for her colorful energy and magnetic allure, Maja Ivarsson from the band, The Sounds, represents the essence of vibrancy and serves up the highest inspiration for untamed, fearless self-expression. The perfect combination of glamour and attitude, Maja is not only the hottest dame shocking the universe with her powerful vocals, she’s also turning heads and making a name for herself for her provocative fashion sense, too. Since the day this Swedish siren burst onto the scene, Maja has time and again proved her appeal as a daredevil singer with mega-watt style.

Wella Professionals Backstage At Peter Som

February 18, 2011 by: admin

PETER SOM / FALL 2011

Hair by Wella Professionals

Collection:

Fall 2011 is all about real clothes for real women – it’s about luxurious ease but with a sense of fun. It’s about everyday luxury. The makeup and hair reflect a youthful style that kept the models from looking too mature and “done,” but it’s still feminine with a twist.

Hair Look:

The hair look is inspired by a late-’50s, early-’60s quirky housewife, but with an added rawness to it. It’s a deconstructed half-up bouffant ‘that looks a just a little bit off. The intentionally disheveled hairstyle modernizes the classic updo with a surprising twist to make hair edgier, sexier and quite simply, “cool-looking.” The updo is a bit unexpected and looks like it’s coming undone as it’s very windswept, textured and autumnal. It has that ’90s take on the ’50s — it’s slightly minimal, but now it’s a bit more raw.

Haircolor:

Wella Professionals Color Ambassador, Aura of NYC’s Serge Normant Salon, collaborated with Peter Som to choose a haircolor palette ranging from platinum blondes to brunettes. Aura and a team of elite Wella Professionals Top Artists from across North America custom-colored ombré extensions for each model for added length and fullness. Each extension started two shades lighter than the model’s natural haircolor and the team formulated color to match the roots and create a shadow for an ombré effect. It gives the hairstyle more texture and depth because the minute you have a root it makes hair look thicker and a bit denser.

Step-by-Step Styling

1. Start with natural, textured hair spraying Wella Professionals Ocean Spritz on the roots.

2. Blow-dry hair upside down using fingers to create volume and texture.

3. Tease the top crown area by back-combing to add texture.

4. Make a side or central part and pull hair back behind the ears; tie at one side into a tight ponytail, leaving out teased section and bottom section of hair. This creates a tight, severe hair line.

5. Brush the top surface of the hair and twist into an asymmetrical French twist; secure with one hair pin.

6. To finish blast hair gently with dryer to loosen hairstyle, and spritz lightly with Wella Professionals Dynamic Fix 45 Second Crafting Spray to hold the look.

Wella Professionals Styling

Wella Professionals Styling is a complete series of new products that caters to a variety of hair care needs.
