How gorgeous does Jennifer Lopez look on Russian(I think) Marie Claire? I just love her makeup in this photo. In fact I think I’m going to try to recreate it right now.

Hope you’re all having a great day!

MAC News Flash: MAC Cosmetics partners with DC Comics’ for a Wonder Woman Collection

July 22, 2010 by: admin

Today on Twitter I heard some very exciting news from a MAC makeup artist. I then researched it more and it’s true, MAC is partnering with DC Comics to create a limited edition collection featuring Wonder Woman.

According to Womens Wear Daily:

It’s set for a spring 2011 launch at all MAC locations worldwide, the lineup is expected to include lipsticks, eye shadows, blush and nail polish ranging in price from $13 to $49.50. (No word on whether metal-deflecting bracelets are part of the collection.)

What do you think? Will you be lining up to purchase a Wonder Woman Makeup Collection?

Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation Review

July 21, 2010 by: admin

I’ve been hearing a lot about this foundation recently so I decided to pick it up. I’ve been using it for a few weeks now so I feel like I can give an honest review.

What they say:

Revolutionary whipped formula provides an air-soft, perfect matte finish coverage, with a weightless feel. Color pigments offer superior coverage. Blends effortlessly for a soft, natural-looking, even-toned result.

My thoughts:

The Good:

  • Applies easily and leaves a dewy finish
  • Blends easily
  • Price is only $7.99

The Bad:

  • Doesn’t apply Matte
  • Gone by the end of the day
  • Leaves us oily skinned girls needing to blot several times throughout the day
  • It’s easy to apply too much and it can look cakey
  • The color choices are weird. I couldn’t find an exact match for my NW20 skin.

Overall, I think this foundation would be good for someone who has very dry skin and is looking for a drugstore foundation.  For the oily skinned girls like myself though, I’d say pass on this product unless you don’t mind blotting two or three times throughout the day.

Have you tried Maybelline Dream Smooth Mousse Foundation before?  What were your thoughts?

Available on Amazon for $7.99 here.

Vogue Magazine Back to School Issue August 1939

by: admin

I have an obsession with magazines, I always have. I don’t know what it is about them, but I heart them. So when I found this issue of Vogue magazine from August 1939 at an Antique Store awhile back I knew I had to pick it up. I hope you enjoy looking at the vintage beauty and fashion ads as much as I did.

Seal skin? This was long before the days of PETA obviously :) .

Walk in brightness on a rainy day with Gaytees.

Can you imagine dressing like this for College these days? Crazy.

Sensational Facials!

I hope you enjoyed this post. Please comment and let me know if you did. I’d really appreciate it.

Jessica Simpson turns 30 and finds a wrinkle

July 20, 2010 by: admin

Just ten days into her thirties and Jessica Simpson is already seeing the effects of aging.

“It is official — I’m 30 and found a wrinkle,” Jessica Tweeted on Monday. “Damnit!”

I wonder how harsh she’s been with her skin? I’m 31 and so far no wrinkles (thankfully), but I do try to take great care of my skin.

In the Mood Color Changing Nail Polish

by: admin

A nail polish that changes colors based on your mood? How awesome is that?

Here’s what they say:

Finally, a nail polish that will reflect our inner hysteria! Don’t worry – you’re not crazy, but your nail polish, on the other hand, could be described as … unstable. These playful nail polishes change color based on your body temperature, your mood, the heat of your latte… or, of course, the chill of your iced coffee! And they will continue changing back and forth as long as your wear them. Cool swim in the ocean? Warm subway ride? Frigid morning run? Sitting under the hair dryer at the salon? Amuse yourself by guessing what shade your delightfully bi-polar nail polish will be at any given moment!

Oh so fun! I might have to order some of these soon. Imagine the fun you could have with this polish at the beach this summer!

Available here for $8.00 a piece.

ELF Beauty Book Eye Brights Edition Review

by: admin

You probably remember the ELF Smokey Eye book I reviewed recently. Well, I picked up the other beauty book as well and this one is called Eye Brights.

This set is a good value at $5.00, but it’s not as great as the Smokey Eye Beauty Book. This one contains three pretty chalky shadows which was disappointing.

You can see here that I marked the ones which were chalky. So only 3/12 which isn’t terrible, but I just wanted to let you know the Smokey Eye kit is much better in my opinion. I do love the blue, cranberry and purple shadows though they’re gorgeous and very pigmented.

Have you found these products in your Target yet? What were your thoughts?

Iyengar Yoga for Motherhood Book Review

by: admin

Morning Ladies. How’s your week going so far? Mine’s good.

This morning I want to tell you about an amazing book for new or expecting mothers. It’s called Inyengar Yoga for Motherhood: Safe Practice for Expectant & New Mothers.

This book is fabulous. While I’m not a mother yet I know this book will come in handy in the future. It’s a beautifully done book that provides you with guidance as you continue your yoga practice throughout your pregnancy and into the first 18 months of motherhood.

It offers:

  • More than 350 easy to follow color photographs that depict the safe form of each pose
  • Instructions on the best pose for relieving common pregnancy symptoms
  • A check yourself sidebar that allows you to perfect each pose
  • Ayurvedic recipes and health tips
  • And much much more

This book is indispensable in my opinion!  A must own book for my fellow yogis.  Two thumbs way up for this beautifully done book.

Eyeko Rain Polish and Saucy Polish Swatches and Review!

by: admin

Look over my nails and sloppy polish application. I was so excited to try the polish I applied it more sloppy than I normally would.

I was recently sent two new limited edition polishes from Eyeko — Rain (“for city nails”) and Saucy (“for naughty nails”) for review. I’m a huge fan of Eyeko polishes so I was beyond excited to try them.

The first one I tried was Rain. I’m not lying when I say I love this shade. I don’t think I’ve seen anything quite like before. It’s a gorgeous blue, gray shade with light shimmers, just lovely. It’s a very hard shade to describe, but believe me it’s amazing.

I was also sent Saucy and while I’m not a fan of red nail polish this one was very pretty. It’s a deep red different from most other reds on the market today. It’s a very pretty polish, but I’m definitely more of a Rain girl. You could probably tell that from the fact that Saucy only made it onto one nail though right? Haha.

Both polishes apply very nicely. Very good quality. I highly recommend these Eyeko polishes.

Fall 2010 Make Up For Ever Moulin Rouge Collection

July 19, 2010 by: admin

Make Up For Ever wants to take us to Paris this Fall with their collection Moulin Rouge.

The collection is very small consisting of only four products. I love this collection, mainly the lashes and crystal gems, but I just wish it were bigger. How can a collection consist of only four products?

What are your thoughts on the Moulin Rouge collection? Please share.
