Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel Review

June 30, 2008 by: admin

I first heard about people using this product as a primer way back in 2006. Soon after I decided I just had to try it. I remember getting a sample of it in the mail and hating it, though I don’t remember why at the moment.

But since I ran out of my primer(BE Prime Time) recently, I decided to give this product another try. I stopped by Target and picked this up for $5.99 which is a steal when compared to “real” primers. I tested the Monistat out over the weekend and it worked !! I couldn’t believe it my skin felt smooth and my makeup lasted all day. This product is just as good as any “real” primer I’ve ever tried. Here’s a comparison list of ingredients in primers vs the chafing gel.

Bare Escentuals Prime Time:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone, Silica, Magnesium Silicate, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5), Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita Flower Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Extract.

Smashbox Photofinish Primer:

Cyclomethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Isopropylparaben, Retinyl Palmitate, Tocopheryl Acetate, Ascorbic Acid, Carthamus Tinctorium (Safflower) Seed Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Extract, Cola Acuminata Seed Extract, Propylene Glycol, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Isobutylparaben, Butylparaben, Water.

Monistat Chafing Gel:

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Trisiloxane, Dimethicone/Vinyldimethicone Crosspolymer, Silica

The ingredient list is very similar isn’t it? I think this product will be a permanent staple in my makeup kit from now on. I just wish it wasn’t so embarrassing to buy, lol.

Shampowder Hair Powder by Buttercream Cosmetics Review

June 25, 2008 by: admin

What they say:

Get a fresh-from the shower look in seconds with Shampowder Hair Powder!
You’re always on the go and always want to look your best. Just a sprinkle is all it takes to add life and lift to hair. Mineral pigments in the most natural tones blend seamlessly in with your own hair color. In seconds, you look like you just stepped out of the salon!

Our thoughts:

This is such a wonderful product. I have hair that looks greasy if I don’t wash it everyday, but really who has the time? With Shampowder you just tap, tap, tap this product onto your roots, and within seconds your hair looks nice and fresh. I’ve tried similar products but I prefer Shampowder. Why? The applicator is great for getting into your roots and I love the way it smells. Whether you’re a new mom or just needing to freshen up after yoga class, this is a must have product!

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Fast Fix Eye Base Review

June 17, 2008 by: admin

What they say:

Lock on shadow and prevent greasy, creasy lids with this multi-purpose nude eye primer. You can wear it alone or under your favorite eye shadow. Micronized pigments help even out skin tone and eliminate darkness and imperfections without looking or feeling heavy. Fast Fix Eye Shadow Base leaves a satin-smooth finish that lasts.

My opinion:

This review hurts me to write because I had such high hopes for this product. The first problem with this eye base is that it’s darker than my skintone, so if you have fair skin like myself then it just looks muddy. The second problem is within a few hours of using the product my eyes were a creasy, greasy, yucky mess. I have never had this problem with any other base/primer before. If you’re looking for a drugstore eyeshadow base then pick up Loreal Decrease, but stay far far away from this one. It’s not even worth the $7.00 I paid for it =/.

However, I’ve heard from a lot of friends that the rest of the Natural Beauty collection is wonderful, so don’t give up on all the products just yet.

Prescriptives Daring Collection Fall 2008

by: admin

Is it bad that I’m already thinking about fall and the gorgeous rich makeup shades that it will bring with it? I don’t know but I just love the new Prescriptives Daring Collection that will be hitting stores this August. How lovely is the sapphire and brown eye look the models wearing? I love it all. What do you think of the collection?

Cover Girl Lash Blast Mascara Review

June 12, 2008 by: admin

What they say:

Get a blast of lush, volumized lashes! LashBlast’s patented volume-boosting formula and patent-pending brush are designed to max-out each and every lash, leaving you with the ultimate big lash look. Now in waterproof, too!

What we say:

I tried this mascara once before several months ago and wasn’t that impressed so I tossed it and continued to use my Loreal Voluminous. Then I heard several celebrities including Keri Russell say this was their favorite mascara and decided to give it another try. Thank goodness I’m easily persuaded because this is now my favorite mascara of all time (even more than Dior Show and Loreal Voluminous). I’m not sure what the problem was the first time I purchased this (other than the fact that this time I purchased the waterproof formula) but I’m so glad I decided to give it another try. It really does give you that big lash look. Another great thing about this product is that you can apply several coats of this and your lashes will still be soft. I LOVE this mascara. If you haven’t tried it yet you must !!
