Anti Aging Talk

by: admin

I have a confession to make. This is really hard for me to admit to myself (as well as to you) but I’ll be *Gasp* 30 next year . The thing is I really haven’t been all that worried about it until recently. Some of the reason’s I haven’t really been concerned are :

  1. I have never been much of a sun worshiper.
  2. I have used sunscreen religiously since the age of 21 or so and have been very good about taking care of my skin.
  3. Because 50 is the new 40 and 40 is the new 30 so 30 has to be the new 20 right? Right?
  4. And even though I have a few fine lines around my eyes I don’t have too many other issues.

So all of that has to be good right? Well, the thing that has started freaking me out is hearing and reading about all the under 30 year olds who’re already having botox injections and plastic surgery.

I also read a quote from DDF skincare founder, Dr. Howard Sobel, recently that said :

” Thirty is the tipping point of aging. You don’t look much different than you did seven years ago but the next three to five years are critical.”

Critical? That sounds so scary doesn’t it? And if that’s not depressing enough he puts it like this:

“At 30, things are ususally not as good as they appear. What lies beneath is cumulative sun damage, crumbling collagen and elastin, and dissapering blood vessels- is about to emerge as brown spots, wrinkles, and sallow and sagging skin if you don’t take care of it”.

So what’s a girl to do? What solutions are available out there? Gylocolic peels, Restalyne, Juvederm and Botox just to name a few. It’s all enough to stress this girl out. Here I was thinking that because I don’t look a day over 24/25 (or so I’m told) that I was in the clear. But now I’m a little scared. I mean I can see myself 10-20 years down the road having some Restalyne or the like but it’s all becoming too much to soon. Don’t get me wrong because I don’t have anything against injections or plastic surgery I just think it’s being pushed on / expected of us at a younger and younger age every year. I guess I shouldn’t stress about it too much because after all that can’t be very good for my skin can it? What are your thoughts on aging? Will you grow old gracefully or will injections be your thing? I think for the time being I’m just going to ignore all the talk about injections and aging and just enjoy my last year as a 20 something and the youthful look I luckily still have at the moment.

*Note* A great kit to try if you’re looking for the perfect sunscreen is the one pictured above available for $25.00 at Sephora.

Nexxus Humectress Luxe Leave-In Conditioner Review

April 17, 2008 by: admin

What they say:

New Humectress Luxe goes beyond your daily conditioner to provide the ultimate in hydration. This lightweight spray continuously nourishes and hydrates hair to keep it looking radiantly healthy and shiny.

What we say:

This leave in treatment is wonderful! It’s infused with Vitamin E, Honey extract and coconut oil which left my hair feeling soft and conditioned. It also smells heavenly(like coconuts). Yumm! The other great part about this product that I love is that the nozzle dispenses a fine spritz instead of too much product like a lot of other leave in conditioners. I’d say this is a must have for anyone seeking a great leave in conditioner.

Retails for: $9.99 at Walmart

Cargo Plant Love Lipstick

April 9, 2008 by: admin

Green is the new black or so I’ve heard. The good news is you don’t have to make a trip to your local health food store to find environmentally friendly beauty products anymore. They’re popping up everywhere these days like your local Sephora. Cargo’s Plant Love Lipstick is a prime example. The lipstick tube is made entirely of corn – a renewable resource. And the outer carton is made from biodegradable flower paper that sprouts wild flowers when planted. The lipstick is amazing to boot it leaves my lips feeling soft and moisturized. Plant Love Lipstick is available in a variety of shades ten of which were designed by celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan and Denise Richards.

Available for : $20.00 at Sephora.com
